The hyoid ramus remains in this position and continues to issue small ramules to the geniohyoid muscle as it passes forward ... to supply the posterior intermandibular muscle; this ramus is shown in red but not labeled on the reconstruction (fig.2B). ... the geniohyoid muscle, the posterior intermandibular muscle and the gular plate are shown in the diagram of section RC ... the hyoid ramus fuses with the ventral ramule of the mandibular ramus of the trigeminal nerve (v- man+hy; fig.2B).
